Project Overview

Designing resilient sensing and communications infrastructure for Sabah’s Lower Kinabatangan Wildlife Sanctuary so conservation teams can gather data without relying on constant connectivity.

Lower Kinabatangan Wildlife Sanctuary lacks the connectivity and power infrastructure needed for conventional cloud-centric analytics. This project maps the requirements for a sustainable IoT architecture, spanning automated camera trapping, environmental sensing, poaching alerts, and asset tracking. We document key challenges and research directions for bioscience researchers, wildlife officers, and law enforcement agencies working in harsh forest environments.
